Children who walk or bike to school have been found to be more alert in the classroom. Continue walking or biking your kids to school, it’s a great opportunity to teach them the importance of street safety.
Safety starts at the bus stop. Parents! Please talk to kids about the importance of bus safety. Children should wait at least 3 big steps away from the curb. When the bus arrives, wait until it comes to a complete stop, door opens, and driver says it is okay to proceed.
Talk with parents in your neighborhood about setting up a buddy system to walk with your child to and from school each day to reduce the stress of your child walking by themselves.
It is getting dark earlier, making it even more important to wear bright colors. Be safe, be seen!
